Frequently asked questions

Q. What is Utrogestan 100mg?

Utrogestan 100mg Capsules contain a progesterone, derived from plants and identical in structure to the hormone produced by our body. It comes in a pack of 30 capsules to be taken as advised by your doctor in combination with a oestrogen treatment in women who have a uterus.

Q. What is progesterone?

Progesterone is a female hormone that’s released naturally as part of the menstrual cycle to help prepare the body for pregnancy.

Q. What can I expect from my treatment with Utrogestan 100mg?

When taking oestrogen for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), the lining of the uterus (endometrium) may build up and cause problems. The addition of a progesterone, such as Utrogestan 100mg, prevents this.

Q. Is there any information on allergies I should be aware of?

Utrogestan 100mg Capsules contain soybean lecithin and may cause hypersensitivity reactions. As there is a possible relationship between allergy to soya and allergy to peanut, patients with peanut allergy should avoid using Utrogestan 100mg Capsules. For the avoidance of doubt, Utrogestan 100mg does not contain peanut products. You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to progesterone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (these can be found in section 6 of the package leaflet)

Q. Where can I get more information about Utrogestan 100mg?

Further information is available in your package leaflet. Contact your doctor if
you have any further questions about your Utrogestan 100mg treatment.
